The contemporary love story in motion, MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE, presented by The Outlore and starring Nkosinathi Mazwai and Amber Morgan, is currently onstage at Theatre Arts until 24 March 2022.
MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE tells the story of a relationship in need of an honest conversation.
Snap-shots in time take the audience through the development of a millennial couple's relation as dialogue meets dance in this creation by Kimberley Buckle (playwright) and Liam Tamejen Gillespie (choreographer).
With a myriad of relationship-related themes (such as rejection, fear, mistrust, abandonment, loss, failure) bubbling to the surface, the dance routines provide an emotional break in the escalating tension and anxiety of the dialogue-driven narrative as the couple’s bond unravels.
Mazwai and Morgan, play well off each other's energy with sleek movements, with Mazwai also impressing with his handling of the text through rapid monologue deliveries. The set design is simplistic and practical, allowing the audience to see the full picture.
You have until 24 March 2022 to go see a young relationship implode in the space where dialogue meets dance in MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE, at Theatre Arts.
Tickets are available online at www.theatrearts.co.za at R100 per person (general admission). The production carries an age restriction of 16 (LS).
