Cape Town is abuzz with anticipation of a riveting new production, LAW OF CARNAGE at the Baxter Theatre

Written and directed by the dynamic duo Iman Isaacs and Raezeen Wentworth, this modern South African play promises to captivate audiences with its exploration of the effects of gender based violence and its innovative approach to storytelling.

LAW OF CARNAGE delves deep into the human psyche, using psychosis as a powerful metaphor to explore the notion of fear that is intrinsically ingrained in women. Set against the backdrop of a country grappling with its reputation as 'the rape capital' of the world, the narrative challenges the status quo and forces viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about grief and governance.

Immersive and multidisciplinary, LAW OF CARNAGE takes audiences on a journey through fragmented images and heightened physical language. The story follows a successful prosecutor who descends into psychosis following a tragic event, weaving together non-sequential timelines to explore different dimensions of reality.

"We are thrilled to bring LAW OF CARNAGE to The Baxter's Golden Arrow Studio," says co-creator Raezeen Wentworth. "This production is a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity in addressing important social issues."

The talented cast includes Zimbabwean-born performer Chi Mhende, known for her captivating performances on both local and international stages. Mhende's versatile background in theater and art therapy adds depth to her portrayal of complex characters. Chi has been featured in the new South African crime thriller miniseries White Lies, Disney+ exclusive Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire, Netflix’s Blood and Water and the Emmy Award Winning American espionage thriller television series Homeland.

"We are proud and excited to have Chi Mhende as our solo performer." says co-creator iman Isaacs. "Her dedication to her craft and her commitment to storytelling make her the perfect fit for this production."

LAW OF CARNAGE will run from March 22nd to March 30th at The Baxter's Golden Arrow Studio. Tickets are priced from R150 to R180 and can be purchased through Webtickets.
