LAMTA
After the huge success of their last production ‘AWAKENING’ at the end of 2020, the students of the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA) have started the new year with hopes that 2021 will bring about more opportunities to perform. To this effect, LAMTA is proud to present their first show of 2021 entitled ‘PHOTOGRAPH’ - a dance production. With 22 new first year students joining the Academy this year, LAMTA’s first production of 2021 will feature a large cast of 38 students.
‘PHOTOGRAPH’ is inspired by some of the most powerful images that have captured our hearts, imaginations or unforgettable moments in time. Depicted through dance, this new socially distanced theatre experience will remind us that life is made up of those memorable moments that resonate with us long after the event.
‘PHOTOGRAPH’ boasts a diverse selection of dance genres from classical to commercial that will entertain audiences of all ages. Featuring brand new works by no less than 11 esteemed choreographers including Rudi Smit, Hope Maimane, Michelle Reid, Figure of 8 Dance Collective, Ashley Searle & Vanessa Harris, Mila de Biaggi, Robin van Wyk, Brigitte Reeve Taylor, Theo Ndindwa, Celeste Botha and Duane Alexander.
We are very excited to be able to share a safe and live theatre experience with you all at the Theatre on Bay with strict COVID safety protocols in place. Socially distanced seating as per government capacity regulations is in effect in addition to regular sanitising of the venue and health screening upon entrance to the Theatre.
