South African pop sensation, Jimmy Nevis, performs in The Baxter garden on 29 January 2023 at 6pm as the perfect start to the 2023 Sun-Set@Baxter concert series.
Alternative pop singer, songwriter and producer, Jimmy Nevis, has been nominated for awards such as the SAMA Kia Record of the Year, the Wawela Awards for Best Male Artist and Composer and a Channel O African Music Video Award. He is known for chart-topping hits such as Elephant Shoes, Heartboxing, In Love with You and Balloon.
Born and raised in Athlone, Cape Town (after which one his hits is named), Nevis signed with Rude World Records, releasing his debut album, Subliminal, in November of 2012. His music video for Heartboxing reached the number 1 spot on the Trace Urban African Chart in 2013.
Jimmy Nevis has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of South Africa’s top musicians, getting to work artists such as Mi Casa, Pascal and Pearce and Kwesta, featuring on their albums. A force to be reckoned with, Nevis comes with South African and international appeal.
Now, after a decade in the industry and driven by how music feels as opposed to its sound, Nevis releases his latest album Things we don’t talk about. “As an artist and a songwriter, it’s a very special time because I’ll be sharing some things that I don’t think I’ve even said out loud,” says Nevis, “But overall about celebrating my unapologetic self.”
The end of 2021 saw the introduction of the Sun-Set@Baxter concerts in the, then, newly renovated garden as an ideal family friendly, outdoor entertainment experience after an extended period of restrictions. The garden setting was the perfect setting for a safe and unique musical experience.
Nevis performs at The Baxter garden on 29 January 2023 at 6pm with doors opening at 5pm. Audiences are encouraged to bring along their picnic baskets, picnic chairs and blankets, while enjoying the sensational music. Only alcohol purchased from The Baxter’s bar will be permitted.
