First up is Nik Rabinowitz in PENSION KILLER on Wednesday 22 January 2025 (8:30pm).

Rabinowitz returns to Die Boer with his take on what it's like to suddenly find yourself being the old strange, functioning inside the new normal. One of South Africa's all-time favourites is still a son, a father, and a husband, but he's also approaching (as in arrived a while back but still denying it) being an uncle, an oom, a madala. It's a brave new, hilarious world, seen through the eyes of a slightly heroic ageing comedian.

Then Marianne Thamm steps up with hilarious truths on 30 January 2025 (8:30pm) with VUISVOOS, MAAR NOG REGOP: HERLAAI.

You may think politics in South Africa is no joke, but Marianne Thamm makes sense of how the country resisted and survived State Capture in a funny and insightful manner. Thamm, a veteran investigative journalist, columnist, and author, uses her quintessential great timing and wit to look at what went wrong in South Africa and how we survived it, even if we did come out the other end of the ordeal a bit ragged around the edges. As Karen Zoid says about Thamm’s style, “She tells the truth and the truth is funny”. What more could you want from great satirical comedy?!

On 9 February (2pm) and 11 February 2025 (8:30pm) , it is Frank Opperman’s turn with REÜNIE.

It's the same school hall, but it's 40 years later. Yes, it's the 1980 matric group's reunion as experienced by Petrus Boshoff, the narrator. The former matrics are confronted with the ghosts of the past and a tragedy they experienced together 40 years ago. Dana Snyman and Frank Opperman have joined forces several times in creating one-man plays: Dana with the pen and Frank on stage. With REÜNIE, the strong directorial hand of De Klerk Oelofse is added to this dream team. Expect the same fine wit, compassion and a touch of nostalgia.

Tollie Parton takes to the stage in HOOFSEUN from 20 to 22 February 2025 (8:30pm).

HOOFSEUN is the latest stand-up comedy show by drag superstar Tollie Parton. It is a comical, highly infectious, semi-offensive look at what it really means to face the expectations of a small African town, as a “fopdosser”. Wynand Kotze, Vanrhynsdorp's former head boy, is now a drag queen with the name Tollie Parton. How does something like this happen? And the biggest question of all: Why do people keep thinking she is Casper de Vries? The show (with text byAnne Hirsch and Wynand Kotze, and musik by Loki Rothman) is full of personal stories about her days as head boy, her family, and her experiences within the Afrikaner community. And despite the fact that no one asked for it, Tollie introduces the country to her new “sokkie" hit. From Head Boy to Head Girl, here comes fat fun! Sorry, you can't say ”fat” anymore. But this fun though has solid bone structure!

With such fantastic comedy on offer, this is a great opportunity to go visit Die Boer Theatre and Restaurant, and go laugh away any worries or anxiety that the start of 2025 may bring with it. You can book for all these shows online at ww.dieboer.com, or by phoning 021 979 1911.
