The third and final weekend of THE ROUTES OF SOUND takes place on 21 and 22 August 2026 at Spier Wine Farm, presented by Brett Bailey and Third World Bunfight, THE ROUTES OF SOUND.

THE ROUTES OF SOUND invites audiences to experience South Africa's rich musical traditions through a series of intimate performances staged in distinctive locations across the farm. Blending original folk, indigenous and jazz sounds, each evening unfolds as a guided musical journey, with guests moving between three live performances while enjoying tastings of Spier's award-winning Creative Block wines, before gathering for a shared finale concert in the Yellowwoods Lounge.
The event title - THE ROUTES OF SOUND- refers to the two routes along which audience groups will travel. The two routes will merge for the final celebratory performance. Of course there’s a pun on the word ‘roots’, referring to unplugged, intimate sessions and the way music would have been listened to in the pre-electric era. Says Bailey, ‘The intention is to give people an unusual, stimulating evening of journeying and listening, opening their minds to moody music and compelling words from the Cape.’
The final weekend features musician, singer and composer Lungiswa Plaatjies, African indigenous instrumentalist and singer Sky Dladla, the duo Deadman's Dungarees, balladeer Maya Grey, soul-folk singer Hayley Jade, composer, vocalist and storyteller Xhanti Nokwali and multi-instrumentalist Vuyisani Mkwambi. The band bringing each night to a close includes Reza Khota, Jonno Sweetman and Sean Sandy, joined by Lungiswa Plaatjies.
The meeting point for THE ROUTES OF SOUND is at the Yellowwoods Lounge, Spier Wine Farm, on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. Tickets cost R300 per person and include wine tastings along the route. The event is strictly for guests aged 18 and older. Warm clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Accommodation enquiries can be directed to reservations@spier.co.za. Tickets can be booked through Webtickets.
