The Artscape Theatre Centre opened on 19 May 1971 as the Nico Malan Theatre Centre. Inline with the spirit of South Africa's constitutional democracy it was renamed in March 2001 as the Artscape and is Cape Town’s premier Opera House. Here you will find the highest quality productions presented by creatives that embrace the idea of artistic excellence in all aspects of the performing arts.

​​The home of progressive South African theatre, the Baxter Theatre Centre, designed by Jack Barnett, opened on 1 August 1977. It came into being as the result of a bequest from the late Dr W. Duncan Baxter and was a pillar of hope during the apartheid era. It is a cultural gateway to the City of Cape Town and throughout the years has established itself as a vibrant, multi-cultural entertainment hub.

Makukhanye Art Room is an award winning Shack Theatre based in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. A true rags to riches story. Formerly a derelict bowling alley, the building was saved in 1957 and a community theatre centre born through the do-it-yourself determination of passionate theatre creatives, led by Bertie Stern (Chairperson, South Peninsula Dramatic Society).
