As with any production, there is a beginning and an end. As sad as the cast may be to say goodbye to their amazing theatre family, they know that growth requires them to switch it up and go join other shows. So no matter how amazing the current story script, change is a necessary part of the journey of life. So too it is for Theatre Scene Cape Town at the start of 2016.
For almost a year and a half Barbara and Fazielah have rocked the Theatre Scene lifestyle as a duo, and loved every moment of the adventure. It is however time for Fazielah to spread her wings and pursue other dreams:
“The time has come to say goodbye … after 17 months of rocking the #lovetheatre lifestyle with my dearest friend and amazing Theatre Scene Cape Town partner-in-crime Barbara, I am sadly putting down my digital theatre pen and blue cocktail, and moving on to focus on my family and magical commitments.
It’s been an incredible whirlwind journey, getting to see behind-the-scenes of your fantastic productions; spending time in your theatres which have truly become my homes away from home, and seeing true art come to life on your stages. While I will continue to enjoy future shows as an arts patron and magical publicist, I am going to miss all of you and seeing behind the thespian wizard’s curtain, so to speak.
Theatre Scene Cape Town continues to grow from strength to strength as a digital theatrical promotion platform, which is all thanks to Barbara’s dedication and love, and I look forward to seeing all of you support her in this.”
So, while you can keep following Barbara’s theatre loving journey as she continues to build Theatre Scene Cape Town for the benefit of both the performers and theatre patrons, you can follow Fazielah’s magical adventure by keeping in contact with her too.
You can find her on twitter at @FazielahW, or check out what she gets up to as #CTGirlWithTheRedScarf on her blog. Be sure to buy her a hot chocolate or a cocktail when you run into her in and around Cape Town! Theatre Scene Cape Town will miss her, but sending her off on her new magical journey with love and light.
So let’s get this New Year started theatre friends. Happy Happy 2016 to all, let the new production rehearsals begin!
